My name is Digna, derived from Latin, meaning “worthy”

My name Digna, is derived from Latin with the meaning worthy. This uncommon name became part of my mission.

"Worthy" reflects a fundamental human need: to feel valued, respected, and accepted. My vision is a world where people connect beyond hierarchy, status, or societal divisions. No matter who you are or where you are, you are worthy and an essential part of the human and natural collective.

I grew up in the Dutch countryside. At 18, eager to escape I began traveling. I worked in factories in the Netherlands to fund my trips, where I learned that societal stereotypes about people with a migrant background were far from true. My travels took me to Latin America, India, and beyond, where I experienced incredible hospitality. Even without speaking the same language, I felt deeply connected to the people I met.

After my travels, I studied cultural anthropology, conducting research in Chile and living with small-scale farmers in the Colombian Andes. I saw how these farmers, despite their essential work, were undervalued and struggling under global economic pressures.

Back in the Netherlands, the pandemic led me to an unexpected path in the corporate world. I began to see CEOs and corporate leaders as part of the same puzzle as the farmers I had met—a different culture, but all people. This made me wonder: How can I bridge these worlds and bring them together?

With Value Chain Voices, my mission is to connect these different worlds by sharing real, lived experiences from within. Rather than focusing on a top-down or bottom-up approach, we aim to create transparency and mutual understanding through the power of storytelling.

By highlighting people’s faces and voices in video, we create connections that transcend cultural boundaries. These stories remind us that, at our core, we are not so different from one another.

As Rumi beautifully said, "You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop." Each of us carries immense worth and plays an essential role in the human and natural collective.
